Come to “History at High Noon” on Wednesday, January 17, Noon to 1pm at City Hall Commission Chambers, 150 NE 2nd Ave, Deerfield Beach, and take a “tour” with Ira Wechterman, President of the Friends of Deerfield Island Park, as he tells the story of the peaceful and tranquil strip of land just north of Deerfield Beach and south of Boca Raton—Deerfield Island Park, also known to many locals as Capone Island. President Ira will share some of the Friends’ goals for this 56-acre nature-oriented park that offers passive outdoor recreational opportunities and environmental education for everyone. Enjoy a video of Deerfield Island Park, a home to as many as 100 plus bird species, home to the endangered gopher tortoise and many other animals and plants. See below for details:
